Some people call it "crafting" and some people call it "work avoidance." I choose the former.

Nuthin 2 crazy, just found this at the thrift store today and only chose to get it because of the kanji on the front and kanji = cool

But yeah I thought it was charming that the kanji translates to "small resident" or "small family" on account of me also being a small resident

I'm not the make and model of person that knows shit about what types of wood is what but the front and back pieces appear to be balsa wood on account of how soft they are and the roof slats are somethin else because they don't feel as soft. Or maybe not! Idk and it doesn't matter!

Anyway, here's what it looked like when I bought it:

After getting home, I realized that one of the roof slats were missing so I filled it in with some jute cord woven together with hemp cord which I then proceeded to just hot glue in place. In the even that a small resident decided to take refuge inside of this little house, I would want them to feel fully secure. Also I glued some little rocks on there cuz I had a bag o rocks stashed somewhere.

I also noticed that there were a few sizeable gaps between the roof slats so I filled them in with some more jute cord. Probably not the best waterproofing solution but better than it was before lol

I didn't get pics of the painting process because it was really simple and unremarkable. I got a white chalk paint (which is probably not a good choice because this structure will ultimately live outside but who cares??) and did a wash on the front and back panels and all the roof slat cracks. And by that I mean I brushed a small amount on and then got a wet paper towel and smeared it around.

I repeated this process with a medium-brown on the interior of the doorway, window, and roof slat cracks then added a little shell doorway decoration for good luck.

I also got some kinda moss that I had stashed in a bag and hot glued it everywhere. I'm not the moss genius and also I didn't keep the label so I have no idea what kind it is. If you do, let me know! Ultimately, I don't think it was the best type of greenery for this project because it looks more aquatic than forest-y but c'est la vie!!!!

Also idk if hot gluing the moss hurt it. If so, I'm sorry to the moss :(

But yeah after that itz done!!!!!!!!
